McDonnell Information Systems Ltd, Hemel Hempstead, Herts : July to September 1994 I worked in the Desktop FM Department assisting with first line fix of PCs, application and network support for the in-house network as well as being available via their international helpdesk for FM support. My work has included virus handling, managing LAN and backbone-to-LAN connections, PC repairs and installations and configs, managing cross discipline problems. Rank Cintel System Administrator/Supervisor, Ware, Herts : May to July 1994 This work involved use of all supervisor functions, supervising backups (Arcserve onto DAT), troubleshooting the network, dealing with Rprinter problems, training users, administering Appmeter (for application access control), documentation of the network with Bindview, installation of workstations including PCMCIA device installations, downing and reconfiguration of servers, management of user and directory rights, support of Research and Development NFS systems installed on the network. Southern Electricity PLC : Network Administrator, Slough, Berks : Novell 3.12 : February to March 1994 Including user support services to a roll-out team who were installing a wide area network of some 50 servers across this company. I trained some 40 users virtually from scratch, including Windows, Lotus Smartesuite applications Lotus Amipro (Wordprocessor) and Lotus 1-2-3. I dealt with communication between the network and the host DEC minis, including TCP/IP configuration changes and work with Windows-workstation Novell system login-scripts. Scottish Nuclear Ltd Head Office, East Kilbride, Glasgow : January 1994 : was contracted to assist the busy PC helpdesk. Some 300 PCs were supported on site and a further 200 or so at the PowerStation's. I was involved in reconfiguring PC's on the network and also user support, mainly Microsoft Office and other Windows applications. |
