Urgent Public Sector Firewall upgrade implemented  ..

University A were about to get cut off from their network … they were in urgent need in need of a firewall infrastructure change to be undertaken rapidly to prevent loss of connectivity to Janet the academic network. This was a few weeks away from the time when the UCCA university entrance process was to happen in the summer of 2002. The deal was done between the VAR and the university but nobody was available to do the work. I was working on another public sector site in Norfolk on a Friday lunchtime when the call came through .. would I go to West London and attend a scoping meeting on behalf of the company .. that afternoon ... I swallowed .. but managed to attend the site later that afternoon  ..scoped the requirement , got the Nokia equipment ordered .. finished the job in Norfolk that next week and installed the firewall the next weekend and full service was established early on Monday morning with routing problems dealt with over the weekend.
