Government EAL4 VOIP Solution

A government department wished to utilise the benefits of "converged" Voice over IP over their business network.

The benefits are

1. Ability to use the same telephone number and PC at multiple
   

2. Business Continuity benefits of being able to operate from any broadband connection.
   

The problems are

1. Security constraints on the perimeter of their network.
   

2. The need to utilise Non-Evaluated, market leading proprietary-standard VOIP equipment.
   

A secure solution was found to enable the classic VOIP phone/pc combination to be used to reap all the benefits, but maintaining the EAL4 assurance level of the government data network.
